Alden Clark

November 1, 1933 — October 26, 2019

Alden D. Clark went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 10:56 p.m. on October 26, 2019. He was 85 years old.

He was born in Clunette, Indiana on November 1, 1933, the son of James Sylvester and Fanny May (Warren) Clark. He was one of 10 children born to the couple and was the last of his siblings. He attended school in the Mentone area and was married to Thelma Mae Smith on March 21, 1954; to their union, two sons and a daughter were born - all of whom survive.

Alden was an honorably discharged veteran, enlisting with the local National Guard, Company L. He earned the rank of specialist, second class and served as a cook. Professionally, he was a truck driver who owned and operated Clark’s Cartage of Warsaw for several years. He was vice president of Clark’s Marine of North Webster, a business he ran with his son, Darrell and he retired from Hoffer Trucking in Warsaw.

More personally, he liked to travel and had visited all fifty states, Mexico and Canada. Time spent in his R.V. was precious as he loved time spent with his family. In later years, he and his wife wintered in Florida. He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oswego and truly loved the Lord.

Those who survive with memories to cherish include his wife of 65 years, Thelma Clark; sons: Darrell (Bea) Clark of North Webster and Lance (Michele) Clark of Syracuse; daughter, Susan (Eric) Engelberth of North Webster; seven grandchildren: Kelly Ducheteau of North Webster, Matthew (Kelli) Engelberth of Hudson, Emily (Justin) McGowen of New Paris, Cory (Whitney) Clark of North Webster, Ryan (Megan) Engelberth of Warsaw, Jake Clark of Syracuse and Sam Clark of Syracuse. Also surviving are five great-granddaughters: Kate Engelberth, Jane Engelberth, Mallory McGowen, Carly Engelberth and Alice Clark and five great-grandsons: Will Engelberth, Paul Engelberth, Gavin McGowen, Deegan Engelberth and Derrick Engelberth. Alden was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Lowell, Jim, Bob, Bing, and Dick; sisters: Bea, Charlotte, Barbara and an infant sister, Dorothy and by great-grandchildren: Bethany, Henry and Calvin.
