Alice Elaine McCray

Alice Elaine McCray, 90, of Winona Lake, IN (formerly of Marion, IN) passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Grace Village Healthcare in Winona Lake, IN. She was born on September 19, 1929 in Huntington, IN to Raymond Floyd & Euda Idell (Martz) DeWitt.

She graduated in 1947 from Clear Creek High School in Huntington County, IN and was married on September 28, 1952 at the Pleasant Chapel Evangelical United Brethren Church near Roanoke, IN to Walter Lee McCray who preceded her on September 5, 2004. Surviving are daughter Dawn, sons David, Kevin, Kelly, and Patrick who were born from that union. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Schacht Rubber Manufacturing Company in Huntington, IN from 1947-1953. She was a 50 year resident of Marion, IN before moving to Kosciusko County in October 2004.

She was a member of the RCA-GE-TCE Employees Sympathy Club in Marion and was of the United Brethren in Christ faith. She loved cats, enjoyed reading, watching tennis & basketball, and playing the piano at church. She worked 28+ years at precinct election sites in Marion.

4 Grandchildren – Courtney (Kory) Mann of Yulee, FL, Christopher (Melody) Ybarra of Converse, IN, Brooke Ebel of Van Wert, OH, and Adam Calvelage of Warsaw

9 Great-Grandchildren – Derek & Danica Mann, Brenley Davis , Owen Ebel, Cheyanne Faith, Isabella Rose, Malachi Joseph & Isaiah James Ybarra, and Keller Calvelage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 4 brothers-Floyd Orville DeWitt, Edison “Eddie” DeWitt, Edwin “Oliver” DeWitt, and Meredith “Paul” Dewitt.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Needham Storey Wampner Funeral Service, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Fr. Paul Seaman & Fr. Kevin McCray officiating. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Memory, 11201 S. Marion Rd-35, Marion, IN. Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN is in charge of all arrangements.
