Allen W. “Al” Avery, 72, of Syracuse, IN was called to come home by his Heavenly Father at 12:40 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse, IN. His race has been run and circle of life is now complete. He was born on September 15, 1947 in Goshen, IN to Owen D. & Waneta (Amsden) Avery.
He was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and attended Syracuse High School. He was married on December 2, 1967 in Pierceton, IN at the Spring Creek Church of the Brethren to Carol L. Brallier who survives. He was a hard worker & retired from Forest River in Goshen after 20 years due to failing health. He was formerly employed at Liberty Homes in Syracuse for 22 years.
He was a member of the New Salem Church of the Brethren in Milford, attended the Wawasee Community Bible Church in Milford, and his favorite hymn was Amazing Grace. He loved spending time with his family, gardening, building things, avid NASCAR fan, loved I.U. sports, and fishing. He was loved and respected by everyone that knew him.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by:

2 Sisters – Sharon (Dewayne) Lemler of Nappanee & Esther Fisher of Pierceton
Brother – Fred Avery of Plymouth
Beloved 4 legged companion – Zoe Bear
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother – Edith Avery, & 5 brothers – Richard, Ivan, Charles, Jimmy, and David Avery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Graveside services will follow on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Milford, IN with Pastor Dave Winters officiating.
