Alvin Gene Schambers, 61 of Warsaw, passed away quietly on Sunday, October 4, 2020 while surrounded by his loving family.
Alvin was born in Fort Wayne on February 26, 1959. He was the son Kenneth and Barbara (Listenberger) Schambers. In his youth, he had a paper route in the Harlan area east of Fort Wayne and later went on to work for Dietrich Metal Framing. Locally, he was employed by Creighton Brothers where he was a '‘jack of all trades;'’ he had worked on the farm crew, in chicken delivery and in egg delivery for more than 25 years.
It would be difficult to sum up Alvin in an obituary, though he is best remembered for his big heart. He was loveable and friendly, truly enjoying time with family. He enjoyed time outside especially auctions, gardening, cooking, lawn care, and playing with his grandchildren who were the light of his life. He liked checkers and board games and had even been a 4-H leader. He was a teddy bear with an awesome sense of humor and a giving, caring nature.
On June 24, 1995, Alvin’s life was forever changed when he married the love of his life, Michelle “Shelly” McGlennen. Shelly Schambers survives as does son, Dennis Priser of Warsaw; daughters, Krista Swick (Matthew Anderson) of Pierceton and Ashley Wadkins (Andrew Bolinger, Jr.) of Warsaw and ten grandchildren: Scarlett Wadkins, Andrew Bolinger III, Leland Priser, Logan Priser, Hunter Priser, Taylor Smith, Sabastian Swick, Makyle Swick, Eli Swick and Jovie Swick. Also surviving brothers, Bill Schambers (Nancy) and Rick Schambers; sisters, Cheryl Ragan and Cindy Strahm (Robert) and four good friends: Garold Holloway, Tim Holloway, Dee “Della” Boyd and Debbie McCawley. Those who preceded Alvin in passing include his parents; son, Jimmy McGlennen; brothers, Jim and Ed Schambers and a good friend, Ray Allen Glasser.
