Biography
Ancil “Mac” McCartney, 72, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Monday December 15, 2014 at 1:10 AM in Kindred Healthcare, Greenwood, Indiana.
Mac was born October 18, 1942 in Webster Springs, West Virginia to Hubert and Reesa McCartney.
A veteran of the United States Army, Mac was honorably discharged in 1963.
He and Nancy Allmon were married June 19, 1966 in Lisbon, Ohio.
While living in Warsaw, Indiana he was employed by Warsaw Asphalt Company. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #49. In the past when his health would allow, he enjoyed playing golf, hunting and he especially enjoyed fishing. Win or lose, Mac was a loyal Chicago Bears fan.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: John McCartney, Indianapolis, and Jim and Roxie McCartney of Edinburgh; daughter and son-in-law: Teresa and Carl Howard of Indianapolis; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 sister: Bonnie Wolfe of East Liverpool, Ohio; 2 brothers: Bill McCartney of Webster Springs, West Virginia and Kenny McCartney, Florida. He was preceded in his death by a sister and a brother.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 18th at 11 AM in Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Indiana. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
Gifts in Mac’s memory may be given to a charity of choice or simple acts of kindness may be done for others in his memory.
