Angie (Wallen) Horn, age 85 and a resident of Warsaw for more than sixty years, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center where she lived. Her passing was from complications of a major stroke which she suffered nearly three years ago.
Born on February 18, 1935, Angie was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Joe and Josephine (Campbell) Wallen. She attended school in the area and, on September 10, 1955, was married to the love of her life, Floyd Paul Horn - whom most called “Mike.” The pair spent more than fifty-eight years together prior to his passing on April 21, 2013.
Angie worked at Big Boy Products through their closure in the 1970s and more recently she worked at Sherman and Lin’s Bargain Bin. This was fitting as she loved to shop and really enjoyed scoring a bargain. She was a regular at Goodwill, enjoyed gardening, and was never happier than when she could cook for others – especially her family. Time spent with them was truly precious to Angie as she adored her two grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. They remember her for her cooking prowess and for her ability find joy in homemaking tasks, even those which others didn’t care to do. She always claimed to like cleaning up and washing dishes; this made her a welcome guest to any function though her sunny disposition and her caring nature were a great draw for friends, too. She was a regular at several local Baptist churches and she loved the Lord.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include son, John P. Horn (wife, Jackie) of Warsaw; grandson, Matthew Horn (wife, Tashina) of Plainfield; granddaughter, Kimberly Call (husband, Phillip) of Norfolk, VA; eight great-grandchildren and two brothers, Paul Wallen (wife, Judy) of Pierceton and Dewey “Bill” Wallen (wife, Carol) of Gladwin, MI. Those who preceded her in passing include her parents, her husband, two siblings: sister, Mary Ellen Rose and brother, Joe Wallen and a great-granddaughter.
