Anna Luz Islas, of Warsaw, passed away surrounded by her family at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne on Sunday September 3, 2023, at the age of 75. Born on December 23, 1947, in Mexico, the daughter of Carlos Sotomayor Saavedra and Mariana Quintero. Anna was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her kindness and hardworking nature.
In the mid 1970’s, Anna moved to the United States from Mexico where she made her home in California. In 1994, she and her family moved to the Warsaw area, where she would spend the rest of her life.
Anna had a passion for helping others, and her career as a CNA allowed her to make a positive impact on the lives of the residents she cared for. She worked at Grace Village Retirement Community for many years before her retirement.
In addition to her career achievements, Anna was also proud of completing her GED. She valued education and believed in the importance of continuous learning. This accomplishment showcased her determination and served as an inspiration to those around her.
Anna was deeply religious and found solace in reading her Bible. Her faith served as a guiding light throughout her life, bringing comfort during difficult times and strengthening the bonds within her family. Family was most important to Anna. She especially loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She taught them to value who they were and never forget where they came from. She would even correct their Spanish when words were spoken incorrectly. Along with being a great mom and grandmother, Anna also was a fantastic cook and had a natural green thumb.
Those who survive with broken hearts include her children: Mirna (Jeff) Justice, Tony Carrejo, and Daniel Islas; grandchildren: Valery (Phil Konieczny) Fernandez, Sean Lackey, Jazmin Justice, Penelope Islas, Zoey Islas, Rudy Carrejo, Andrew Carrejo, Isaac Carrejo, and Isabella Carrejo; great-grandchildren Adrian, Liam, Mila, Victor, and Alexander; as well as her siblings Carlos, Socorro, Rosa and Jorge. Preceding her in death are her parents, as well as her beloved husband Ramon Ignacio Islas.
Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with the care of Anna and her family. Friends may join her family there, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw on Saturday September 9, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 pm.
