Archie Hoffert

Archie G. Hoffert, 91, of Pierceton, IN died at 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse, IN. He was born on November 24, 1917 in Larwill, IN to George & Elizabeth (Leiter) Hoffert.

He graduated in 1935 from Claypool High School and moved to the North Webster / Pierceton area in 1949. He was married on October 7, 1939 in Winona Lake to Edith R. Hoppas who survives. He was previously employed with Union Tool & Sun Metal both of Warsaw. He was a farmer and raised ducks for Maple Leaf Farms for 49 years. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Oswego where he served as a trustee for many years.

He is survived by:
Wife - Edith Hoffert of Pierceton;
2 Sons - Douglas (wife, Karen) Hoffert of Leesburg & Thomas (wife, Patricia) Hoffert of Pierceton;
5 Grandchildren & 13 Great Grandchildren;
1 Sister - Dorothy Waldron of Goshen;
1 Brother - Russell Hoffert of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24. 2009 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 3065 E. Armstrong Rd., Leesburg, IN with Pastor Rick Smith of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the North Webster Cemetery (Mock Addition).

Memorial bequest may be given to Calvary Baptist Church or Wawasee Camp of the Gideons International. P.O. Box 101, Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
