Avis J. Gross, 70, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 11:08 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, IN. She was born on February 10, 1941 in Crown Point, IN to Walter F. & Hazel M. (Benner) Graff.
She was a lifetime Milford / Syracuse area resident. She attended Milford Public Schools and was a homemaker. She was married on October 6, 1962 in Warsaw, IN to Charles W. “Sonny” Gross Jr. who survives. She was a member of the Grace Bible Baptist Church in New Paris & Gideon’s Auxiliary in Goshen.
She is survived by:

6 Daughters – Mrs. Les (Dana) Ridgeway of Milford; Mrs. Don (Amy) Ritter of Milford; Mrs. Joel (Shirley) Wallenbeck of Syracuse; Leah Gross of Syracuse; Mrs. Matt (Rebekah) Gilbert of Ligonier; & Mrs. Jeff (Joyce) Gilbert of Wawaka
2 Sons – Paul Gross of Syracuse & Michael (wife, Heather) Gross of Bowie, TX
20 grandchildren
3 Sisters – Mrs. Carl (Lorie) Wheeler of Millersburg; Bonnie Johnson of Syracuse; & Mrs. Wayne (Miriam) Orten of Syracuse
Brother – Dennis (wife, Doris) Graff of Basehor, KS
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 Sisters – Marge Henchley, Barbara Henson, & Lauretta Graff, & 7 Brothers – George, Kenneth, Robert, Pete, Stanley, Donald, & Philip Graff.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2011@ Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the funeral home with Rev. John Dicken of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
