Barbara J. Porter

Barbara J. “Barb” (Gamsby) Porter, 67, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 2:40 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015 at her home. She was born on November 13, 1947 in Wabash, IN to Russell & Edna (Harney) Gamsby Sr.

She attended Wabash High School and was a lifetime Wabash / Kosciusko County resident. In 1970 she was married in Wabash, IN to Carl David Porter Sr. who preceded her in death in 2003. She was formerly employed at Sea nymph Boat Company in Syracuse.

She was a former member of the Olive Branch Church of God & regularly attended the weekly Bible study at Greenhaus Apartments in Syracuse.

She is survived by:
3 Daughters – Melissa (Bert Mickem) Staton of Syracuse, Angela Brubaker of North Manchester, & Corinna Gaff of Kissimmee, FL
2 Sons – Carl “David” (Tosha Maran) Porter Jr. of Syracuse & Gary (Tammy Hill) Hapner II of Syracuse
16 Grand & 13 Gt. Grandchildren
2 Brothers – Russell (Marilyn) Gamsby Jr. of Silver Lake & Robert (Sally) Gamsby of
Wabash.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters – Mary Ann Moore & Edna Mae Marcum, & brother – Ralph Gamsby Jr.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. No funeral services are planned.

Memorial bequest may be given to Barbara Porter Funeral Fund, c/o Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
