Barbara June "Barb" Lainez, 62, of Etna Green, IN passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019 at her son's home in Warsaw, IN. She was born on June 3, 1957 in Bremen, IN to Mahlon E. & Martha (Slabaugh) Schmucker.
She attended the United Christian School in Nappanee and lived most of her life in the Bremen, Nappanee, & Etna Green areas except for 10 years in Honduras. She was married on December 24, 1983 in Honduras to Rogelio L. Cruz who survives. She taught English as a 2nd language & was a special education teacher at Jefferson Elementary in Winona Lake for 19 years and served for 10 years as a missionary & teacher in Honduras.
She attended the Iglesia Sinai Pentecostal Church in Goshen.
She is survived by:

4 Sons – Kenneth Lainez of Etna Green, Caleb Lainez of Elkhart, Joshua (Brittney) Lainez of Warsaw, and Kevin Lainez of Etna Green
2 Grandchildren - Grace & Mason Lainez

6 Sisters – Rose Marie (Jerry) Yoder of Nappanee, Kathleen Blank of Nappanee, Mary Sue (Mike) Lehman of Battle Creek, MI, Elizabeth (Myron) Miller of Nappanee, Polly (Sergio) Aguayo of Bremen, and Rebecca (Stephen) Wallenfelsz of Elmhurst, IL
4 Brothers – Samuel (Lori) Schmucker of Bremen, David Allen Schmucker of Bremen, William (Wendi) Schmucker of Fremont, IN, and Joseph Schmucker of Culver, IN
She was preceded in death by her sister – Donna Kay Schmucker, brother – Johnathon Schmucker & twin brothers – David & Daniel Schmucker.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Nappanee Missionary Church Sanctuary, 70417 N. St. Rd 19, Nappanee, IN. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Nappanee Missionary Church with Pastor Nemuel Campos officiating. Burial will take place in the Berea Christian Fellowship Church Cemetery in Nappanee. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements.
