Betty Miner (Martin)

Betty Ellen Miner, age 97 and a lifetime Kosciusko County resident, passed away quietly on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 just before 6 a.m. in Mason Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
Betty was born on August 18, 1920 in Kosciusko County to Charles Walter and Ruth Iola (Steffe) Martin. She was a 1938 graduate of Atwood High School and was married to Harold R. “Bud” Miner on August 18, 1941 in the Atwood parsonage. Together the pair would share 45 years before Bud’s passing. The pair was blessed with two sons: Ray and Don Miner.
Betty worked at JoMac Glove for a time before dedicating herself to her family full-time. She attended Stony Point Church for many years and was a longtime member of Atwood Otterbein United Methodist Church. She previously served on the Church board and was active in the United Methodist Women. She also volunteered for many years with the Red Cross Blood Mobile and was a member of Club 55 which was part of the Purdue Home Extension. Betty loved time spent with family and enjoyed sewing and knitting. She also enjoyed vacationing with her sons and their families.
A short list of those who survive Betty with memories to cherish includes her son, Ray Miner; grandchildren, Jeff (wife, Sherry) Miner and Matt (wife, LeeAnn) Miner and 3 great-grandchildren: Craig Miner, Danielle Miner and Elizabeth Miner – all of Warsaw. She is also survived by a sister, Catherine “Kate” McGowen of Warsaw, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Miner of Goshen and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Bud” Miner; son, Don Miner; sister, Joan (husband, Lester) Taylor; brother, Robert (wife, Patricia) Martin; daughter-in-law, Gayle Miner and Brother-In-Law, Donald McGowen.
The family will receive friends at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, on Monday, January 29th for a time of visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. and again for one hour prior to the following morning’s funeral service. The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30th in Titus Funeral Home. Pastors Jim Lawson of Otterbein UMC and Mike Beezley of Aldersgate UMC will officiate the service and graveside committal which follows in Oakwood Cemetery.
