Betty Lou Coy, 89, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 7:26 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse. She was born on April 21, 1926 in Syracuse to Carl Robert & Mabel Pearl (Bunger) O’Haver.
She was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and attended Syracuse High School. On November 10, 1945 in Syracuse she married Wayne L. Coy, who preceded her in death on January 19, 2007. She was a homemaker, retired in 1978 from Syracuse Rubber Company after 20+ years and formerly worked at G & W Pizza and the Five & Dime Store both in Syracuse.
She was a former member of the Church of the Brethren in Syracuse and former member of the American Legion Auxiliary and V.F.W. Auxiliary both of Syracuse.
She is survived by:
3 Sons – Douglas W. (Linda) Coy of Kimmell, IN ; Michael D. (Cathy) Coy; & David W. (Susan) Coy all of Syracuse
13 Grand, 11 Gt. Grand and 1 Gt. Gt. Granddaughter
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson – Ty Lee Coy, 5 sisters – Helen Shock, Mildred Plank, Eloise Halsey, Pauline Speicher, & Gloria Lutz, 3 brothers – Emmet O’Haver, Carl O’Haver & Marvin Shock.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Syracuse Cemetery with Pastor Stan Owen of the Syracuse Church of God officiating.
Memorial bequest may be given to Betty Coy Funeral Fund, c/o Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
