C. Maxine Hepburn (Smith), of Warsaw, passed away peacefully at Miller’s Merry Manor- Warsaw on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the age of 91.
Born in Burlington, Indiana on March 5, 1931, the daughter of Virgil O. and Dorotha Smith (Bentley). She was one of fifteen children. Maxine spent most of her career as a nurse’s aide, working at both Mason Health and Rehabilitation and Miller’s Merry Manor until her retirement in 1990.
Maxine was a very unpredictable woman. Her family makes jokes that her favorite thing to do is to cut switches off of the lilac bush. She enjoyed fishing and loved to cook. Maxine truly loved her family. Every year on memorial day, her and her family would go decorate her family member’s grave in Kokomo. Maxine had a love for her Lord and her bible. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to old country music. Her favorites were Conway Twitty and Bill Anderson.
Those who survive include Elmon (Charlotte) Bays; brothers, Keith (Sandy) Smith, Bill (Amy) Smith, and Buddy (Shirley) Smith; and sisters, June Senff, Bev Tackett and Ruth Timmrick; and sister in law, Susan Smith. She is further survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, A.M. Shepherd; second husband, Arlie Daugherty; siblings, Richard Smith, Dean Smith, Donna Woodling, Eileen Warren, Tom Smith, Bob Smith, Nancy Smith, and Virgil Smith; and brother in law, Frank Tackett.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, Indiana, is entrusted with the care of Maxine. Friends and family may gather there on Friday, July 29, 2022, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. The funeral service will begin at 3:00pm. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Graceland Cemetery in Claypool.
