Catherine Louise Silver, 99, of Vevay, IN (formerly of North Webster, IN) passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay. She was born on July 21, 1912 in Indianapolis, IN to Harrison & Cecilia (Shannon) Thurston.
She was raised in Indianapolis, graduated in 1929 from Shortridge High School and in 1933 from Butler University. She was married on December 25, 1936 in Indianapolis, IN to Burl Silver who preceded her on October 3, 1969. She was a homemaker, florist, & dietician. She moved to North Webster in 1957, where her late husband
owned and operated the Indian Hills Golf Course, along with his real estate agency and law practice.
She was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling the U.S. and abroad with various travel groups. She moved to Inverness, FL in 1994, and to Lamb, IN in 2001.
She is survived by:
Daughter – Mrs. Dennis (Sue) Huffman of Lamb, IN
Grandson – Steve (wife, Barbara) Huffman of Lamb, IN
Niece Cecilia Beaman of Mobile, AL
She was preceded in death by her husband 3 brothers - George Thurston, Harrison Thurston II, and Bernie Thurston.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 in the North Webster Cemetery (Mock Addition) with Rev. David Smitley of the church officiating.
Memorials may be given to the North Webster United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
