Cayle L. Woodard, 61, of Milford, IN passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home. He was born on July 21, 1956 in St. John, MI to Lester & Dorine (Taber) Woodard.
Cayle graduated in 1975 from Ovid-Elsie High School in Ovid, MI, and in 1979 from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. He later earned his Master’s Degree from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. He lived in Michigan until 1979 when he moved to Indiana and began his teaching career. He was married on December 28, 1985 in Owosso, MI to Kristine A. “Kris” (Shafley) Nethaway who survives. He bought his first home on Big Barbee Lake in Leesburg before moving to Camelot Lake in Milford.
Cayle taught middle school industrial technology for 38 years. He began his career at Pierceton Middle School and finished his career with Milford Middle School. He instructed driver’s education for 38 years and served as the Director of Wawasee Community Schools’ Driver Education program until his passing. Throughout his teaching career he coached track, basketball and cross country.
Cayle also served as the president of the Indiana Driver Education Association (INDEA) and was an EMT in Pierceton for many years. He enjoyed spending quality time with friends and family while pursuing his passion for hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors.

8 Grandchildren
Sister – Carolyn (Dennis) Long of Elsie, MI
Brother – Calvin (Sherri) Woodard of Muskegon, MI
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Milford School, 110 S. Elm St., Milford, IN with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements. A visitation gathering will follow in the school immediately following the services. Family has requested casual dress & to wear red in honor of Cayle.
Preferred memorials may be given to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Kosciusko County Home Care & Hospice, or Pheasants Forever.
