Charlene Janel Vogel passed away on January 17, 2025 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw, Indiana. She was 87 years old.
Charlene was born on July 22, 1937 in Buckland, Ohio to Macalan Lishness & Charlotte Knost Lishness. She grew up in northwest Ohio and was a graduate of Buckland High School in 1955.
Charlene was married to her husband, Ned Vogel on December 28, 1957 marking the beginning of a marriage that lasted for 67 years. Together they shared a life filled with love, working side by side on their family farm. Although Alzheimer’s had stolen so much, her favorite saying was “One day at a time sweet Jesus.” At the end she still knew her devoted husband and would recite the Lord’s prayer after their devotions each morning.
She was a dedicated wife and mother with a life of service and community spirit. This led her to volunteer with the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary and the Atwood Home Economics Club. During the holidays she spread love to her friends with her homemade cinnamon rolls. Known for her cheerfulness and compassion, she was a longtime member of United Methodist Churches in Kosciusko County, and volunteered with the Methodist NOMADS mission group in retirement.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, Ned Vogel of Warsaw; her children Steve (Cheryl) Vogel of High Point, North Carolina, Chris (Sandra) Vogel of Rochester, Ted (Rebeca) Vogel of Warsaw, Kathy (Mark) Lazzeri of Dade City, Florida & Charmae (Dustin) Kendall of Magnolia, North Carolina. Charlene is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. Her family brought her immense joy.
Charlene was predeceased by her parents, Macalan and Charlotte Lishness; her infant sister, Sue Lishness, her brother Jerry Lishness, and her grandson, Blake Lazzeri.
