Charles F. “Charlie” Taylor, 86, of Goshen, IN passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at I.U. Goshen Hospital. He was born on February 23, 1928 in Cleveland, OH to Virgil J. & Florence A. (Burlingame) Taylor.

He graduated in 1946 from Charles F. Brush High School in Lyndhurst, OH and 1951 from Kent State in Kent, OH. On June 4, 1955 in Cleveland, OH he married Marilyn A. Windle who survives. He lived in the Cleveland area until 1968 when he moved to Syracuse and then moved to Goshen in 2005. He was employed at Wal-Mart in Goshen as a greeter since 2002, was formerly employed as a Dale Carnegie Instructor, taught drivers education in Cleveland, and sold insurance.

He was a member of the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Syracuse where he played the organ since 1968. He was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by:
Wife – Marilyn Taylor of Goshen
Daughter – Nancy (Rodney) Bell of Syracuse
2 Sons – David C. Taylor of South Bend & Paul A. (Lisa Smith) Taylor of Davenport, FL
2 Grandchildren – Carrie Bell & Kevin Bell

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister – Estelle Young, & brother – Virgil P. Taylor.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 6943 E. Waco Dr., Syracuse, IN with Father Richard Hire of the church & Fr. Robert Lengerich of the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Bremen officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial bequest may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
