Chester B. Allen, Jr., known to most as Chet, passed away on January 15, 2024, in Fort Wayne. He was born on July 21, 1947, in Silver Lake to Chester B. Allen, Sr. and Naomi Ruth Oney Allen. Chet was a hardworking and passionate individual who is remembered for his love of Jesus Christ, family, friends and good food.
Chet graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1966; developed a love for basketball and became quite skilled at the sport. This appreciation for athletics remained with him throughout his life. However, nothing brought out his spirit more than watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports activities. Whether it was basketball, tennis, cheer, golf, bowling, swimming or any other athletic event they were involved in, Chet's pride and enthusiasm were unmistakable.
Professionally, Chet dedicated more than 46 years of his life to GRIPCO Fasteners in South Whitley, where he served as Plant Supervisor. Chet was well respected by both his supervisors and his employees.
Chet took great joy in cooking delicious meals for others and had a knack for it. His kids and grandkids would agree that his signature dishes were chicken and noodles, potato and vegetable soup. He also enjoyed driving fast cars, this love has been passed down to his son and grandson. Another passion of Chet's was fishing and hunting for morel mushrooms.
Chet leaves behind a large extended family including: son, Brook Allen of Fort Wayne; daughters, Dustee (José) Ceballos of Sterling Heights, MI, Halie (Jon) Kelley of Fort Wayne, and Hilari (Kyle) Goris of Westfield. His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Braden Allen, Jayce Harris, Jayla Harris, Andres Ceballos, Allison Ceballos, Caydence Ceballos, Cruz Ceballos, McKenna Kelley, Eliana Kelley, Chloe Kelley, Jackson Goris, Bennett Goris, Haley Gilbert, Julia Morin and Madison Morin. Chet is also survived by his sisters Dianna Parker of Silver Lake and Debbie (Phil) Zile of North Manchester and a brother-in-law Terry Parker.He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester, Sr. and Naomi Ruth Allen; sister Patty Parker and brother-in-law, Lynn Parker.
Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with care of Chet and the family with services held in South Whitley at South Whitley Community Church, 6685 IN-14. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. Beginning at 6 o'clock, a Life Celebration Funeral will be led by Pastor Denver Ayres. Final interment will be held privately at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
