Christine R. “Chris” Bitting, 53, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at her home. She was born on March 3, 1962 in Springfield, OH to H. Stanley & H. Marie (Beamer) Gardner.

She attended Goshen High School, graduated in 1980 from Wawasee High School and then attended Lutheran Nursing School in Fort Wayne. She lived most of her life in the Goshen / Syracuse area and was married on June 29, 1996 in Leesburg, IN to Douglas D. “Doug” Bitting who survives. She was employed at Triangle Rubber in Goshen for 10+ years in the personnel / payroll department and formerly worked at Vitco in Nappanee.

She formerly attended the 1st English Lutheran Church in Goshen.

She is survived by:

Husband – Doug Bitting of Syracuse

Daughter – Kelli (James) Rolston of Syracuse

2 Sons - Mat (Sarah) Conway of Cromwell & Trenton (Sarah) Conway of Muncie

Mother – Marie Watson of Syracuse

2 Step Daughters – April (Troy) Deeter of Nappanee & Heather (Al) Chupp of Etna Green

3 Step Sons – Chad Bitting of Goshen, Courtney (Jamie) Bitting of Etna Green, and Josh Bitting of Arkansas

Sister – Kim (Gene) Gingerich of Goshen

Brother – Paul (Sherri) Gardner of Goshen

2 Half Brothers – Jason Gardner of Oklahoma & Joshua (Amy) Gardner of Ocean Springs, MS

3 Step Sisters - Sharon (Charles) Stuckman of Syracuse, Alicia (Steve) Kiser of Fort Myers, FL and Mitzi Wenkleneau of Fort Myers, FL

16 Grand & 16 Step Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her father, step-father – Donald M. Watson, and brother – H. Mark Gardner.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday July 19, 2015 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday July 20, 2015 in the funeral home with Rev. Lenny Krebs, retired pastor from the former Benton Free Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial bequest may be given to the Syracuse EMS, 8138 E. McClintic Rd., Syracuse, IN 46567.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
