Dale Arnold Allen
September 23, 1929 — August 16, 2012
He graduated in 1947 from Sweetser High School in Sweetser, IN and in 1951 from Ball State Teachers College in Muncie, IN. He was a U S Army Veteran and on September 9, 1951 in Sweetser he married Lois E. Harter who survives. He moved to Syracuse in 1958 from Sweetser and retired in 1993 as President of Syracuse Rubber Products after 36 years of service. He formerly worked at General Tire & Rubber in Wabash, IN for 5 years.
He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Syracuse, Charter member of the Lions Club in Syracuse, American Chemistry Society, and Life Member of American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse. He was an avid bridge player.
He is survived by:
Wife – Lois Allen of Syracuse
Daughter – Dr. Karen Allen –Keene (husband- Delos “Dee” Keene) of Raleigh, NC
Son – Dr. Larry (wife, Fran) Allen of Syracuse
6 Grand – Mitchell Whitehead, Bruce (wife, Brenda) Whitehead, Andrew Whitehead, Katie Allen, Karla Allen & Danny Allen
Sister – Joanna “Jo’ Behr of Syracuse
He was preceded by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse and 1 hour prior to services on Sunday at the church. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 1413 N. Long Dr., Syracuse with Pastor Mark Eastway of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Syracuse Cemetery with military gravesite rites performed by the Syracuse American Legion post 223.
