Daniel O Ragan, 59, died peacefully at 9:07 PM in his Binghamton, New York home on March 11, 2014.
Daniel was born June 1, 1954 in Warsaw, Indiana to Bert Edward and Alma Lois (Groat) Ragan. He graduated in 1972 from Walla Walla High School in Washington.
After graduation he entered the United States Air Force. While serving his country he was stationed in Idaho and then in Korea. After an honorable discharge he relocated to Indiana where he joined the American Legion Post #49. Daniel attended Indiana University. After attending college and working for Indiana University, he relocated to New York where he worked for Cornell University. He started his own business, Coremeld Consulting, after relocating to Binghamton New York.
Daniel was a lifelong musician. He was also very proud of his Irish heritage. Through music he combined the two. He loved playing Irish jigs and songs on his penny whistle and never traveled without it. He played professionally in Binghamton with fellow musicians.
A very charismatic man, his eyes constantly twinkled with mirth; his grin was infectious and with his wit he could fill a room with laughter; with his love and zest for life, a room full of sunshine; and with his music and his faith, peace for the soul. He will be so very missed by his friends and loved ones and will always be remembered with fondness and love - especially by his mother: Alma Louise Ragan of Auburn, California; 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law: Janet Clark Robertson, Auburn; Linda and Jim LoBue, Auburn; and Kathleen and Rusty Styles of Elkhart, Indiana; also surviving are 10 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bert Edward Ragan on November 28, 2001.
A graveside service will take place Friday, March 21st at 2 PM in Warsaw's Oakwood Cemetery - Legion Circle #3. Mr. Joey Shepherd will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
May his Irish eyes always smile down upon us.
