Danny Evans

Danny L. (Dan) Evans, 68, of Syracuse, IN died at 12:31 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2008 at Goshen General Hospital in Goshen, IN. He was born on November 8, 1939 in Nappanee, IN to Delbert & Mary (Wise) Evans.

He attended Nappanee High School and moved to Syracuse 38 years ago. He was married on September 13, 1974 in Syracuse to Edith M. Conley-Schlabach who survives. He was employed at Dutchmen Manufacturing (Aero Division) in Syracuse for the past 7 years. He was formerly employed at Commodore Corp. in Syracuse and Skyline Corp. in Goshen.

He was a member of the Millersburg Church of Christ and former race car driver at New Paris Speedway. He loved his God, family, NASCAR, IU basketball, Dallas Cowboy football, fishing, Pink Panthers, Ford Ranger show truck (which won him many trophies), and Bridget his Boston Bull Terrier.

3 Sisters - Mrs. Bob (Sharon) Slone of Kentucky; Mrs. Fred (Luella "Toot") Walls of Nappanee; Mrs. Al (Pat) Zimmerman of Syracuse

He was preceded by his parents, 2 grandchildren - Stacy Bushong & Corey Hershberger

Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor David Main of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
