Biography
Darlene Evelyn Slusher, 89, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 12:30 a.m. in Miller’s at Oak Point in Columbia City, Indiana.
She was born January 3, 1928 in Claypool, Indiana to John and Neva (Miller) Wehrly. Darlene was a lifetime Kosciusko County resident and a 1946 graduate of Warsaw High School.
Darlene and Paul E. Slusher would marry on March 4, 1961 in Warsaw. They would share 30 years together until his passing on October 14, 1991.
For 24 years she was an assembly operator at Dana Weatherhead. She retired in 1991.
Darlene enjoyed bird watching and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Mary Locke of Columbia City and Betty Lou Aguilera of Statesville, North Carolina; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Michael (and Carolyn) Locke and Stacy (and Mary) Slusher – all of Warsaw; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 step grandchild; brother: Johnie Wehrly of Peru, South America; half-brother: Gary Wehrly of Burton, Michigan; sister: Frances (and husband, Robert) Lang, South Bend, Indiana; step sister: Norma (and husband, Loren) July of Burton.
In addition to her husband, Paul, those preceding Darlene’s passing are: 3 brothers: Raymond Wehrly, Forrest “Everett” Wehrly and Herschel Wehrly; step mother: Opal E. Wehrly; and step brother: Lavern Carroll..
Family and friends will gather at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, for a time of sharing Thursday, February 16th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Darlene’s life will be celebrated at Titus Funeral Home Friday morning beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
The family has asked that gifts in memory of Darlene be directed to Alzheimer’s Association, 6324 Constitution Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804.
