Darrel R. Grindle, 81 years old, passed away on Saturday, July 1st at 10:30 a.m. in his Warsaw, Indiana home while surrounded by his loving family.
Darrel was born on February 29, 1936 in Pierceton, Indiana. He was the only son of Albertis D. and M. Frances (Wood) Grindle. Darrel was a 1954 graduate of Warsaw High School and, on June 9, 1963, he was married to Nadine E. Kittrell in Warsaw. Before his passing, the two would share 54 years.
Darrel served with the United States Army in the Natiomal Guard and had been employed at Warsaw Foundry, Inc. as a core maker, retiring as the core room supervisor. At his June 2000 retirement, Darrel had worked for the foundry for more than 50 years.
An outdoorsman, he loved to fish and was a hunter of multiple species. He even went to Wyoming on several deer hunting trips. He also was an avid bowler with several leagues and at one time bowled five nights weekly. He had a sarcastic sense of humor. He loved watching NASCAR but became limited to listening to the races after Diabetes took his eyesight. Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver.
Those left with memories to cherish include his wife, Nadine Grindle, of Warsaw; son, Anthony B. Grindle, of Cromwell; two daughters, Tamara A. (Rodney) Hunsberger and Hope Everly, both of Warsaw; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan K. Lipscomb, February 11, 2010; grandson, Austin Hunsberger, May 13, 2009; and his sister, Donna Nine, May 4, 1986.
Private services will be held with Reverend Dave Hummel officiating. Burial will take place in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
