It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Richard Cesaretti, a man whose larger-than-life personality and deep love for life touched the lives of so many.
David went to heaven on March 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of family, friendship, and unforgettable memories.
A proud Catholic Italian from Chicago, David never forgot his roots. He carried his Italian heritage with pride, keeping the traditions passed down from generation to generation alive.
He was a part of the union as a drywall hauler, proudly holding his Teamster card long after he retired. His deep connection with his Chicago friends, who became like family to him, was evident. David would often drive to Chicago just to get fresh bread, ingredients for hot giardiniera, and, of course, to visit family and dear friends. David and Holly loved their trips to Chicago to visit their parents, Barbara Cesaretti, Jim and Nancy Hollenbeck. David would clean out their fridge, help with yardwork, and always sneak a treat from the candy jar. The car rides always included a cooler in his trunk with ice cold beverages, pears from his fruit trees, and carbs to enjoy along the way.
In his later years, David moved from Chicago to North Webster, where he started a transportation company with just one vehicle. Through hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to helping others, he grew his fleet to include sedans, semis, party buses and luxury vehicles to go anywhere, anyplace, anytime. Fast Cab and Fast Courier was a successful 24/7 transportation business that went unrivaled over the years.
It wasn’t just a taxi service; for David this business was a means to help people during their hardest times. He offered more than free or discounted rides, he helped people get back on their feet, offering guidance, support, and a belief in their ability to succeed. His gift for lifting others up when they were down was unmatched, and his ability to encourage and inspire was truly unique.
Married to the love of his life, Holly, for 43 years. Holly and David were epitome of a love story, a true example of unconditional love. David often said, "I would do anything for love." This was true in every sense of the word, as he devoted himself completely to his wife and their four children: GinaLee Lollobrigida of Winona Lake, IN; Joseph David and Sarah of Columbia City, IN; Jessica Anita and Francisco Javier of Miami, FL; and Dominick David of Fort Wayne, IN. Four grandkids include Amelia Mae, Emma Rose, Walker David, and Elijah Edward. David was the godfather of Geno Capezio of Chicago, IL and JJ Kralis, of Warsaw, IN.
David was a professional taxi driver—on the clock and off for Holly and his kids. Whether it was to the airport, a trip to the doctor, or even a quick stop at the grocery store, he was always behind the wheel. But the real beauty of his "driving service" wasn’t just in getting his family from point A to point B. It was the countless life lessons shared between red lights and turns, where his family learned everything from fighting fire with fire, always getting back up, to the value of a good detour. Those car rides weren’t just about destinations; they were about the wisdom he passed on to his wife and kids without even realizing it. And of course; he always knew where the best cup of coffee was brewed and the cleanest restrooms.
He worked hard but always made time to play even harder, creating a life full of joy and laughter for his family. His kids—and their friends—always wanted to be around him because he was full of energy, positivity, and encouragement. He was the man who believed everything could be improved or fixed, even if it wasn’t broken. Many times, he would tell his children, “If man made it, I can fix it.”
David loved Webster Lake, where he spent many summers cruising in one of his many boats, having bonfires, mowing the yard, flying kites, and cooking for friends and family. Those lake days were filled with laughter, good food, and cherished memories, a testament to his love for life and the people around.
Davids's philosophy was simple: “I’ll sleep when I die,” and he truly lived each moment to its fullest.
The number of lives David touched is truly immeasurable. He was one of a kind, and everyone who knew him has a story of how he made an impact. His spirit, his positivity, and his ability to bring people together will never be forgotten.
David is survived by his faithful and loving wife, Holly, his children, grandchildren, 5 Maltese Dogs (Leonardo, Baby, Dolly, Dino, and Frankie) and the countless friends and loved ones who were fortunate enough to know him. David is now reunited with Fred Cesaretti, his father, in heaven. Additionally, his best friend, John Capezio, also welcomes him into heaven. Anyone who knows those two knows they're up in heaven, running the show, having a great time. Drinking ice-cold beer, eating peanuts, listening to music, and enjoying each other's company once again. David is likely laughing just hearing John's laugh. Our hearts find peace knowing they are together, doing what they love most.
A celebration mass of David's life will be held on April 4th, 2025, 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 N. Harrison St. Warsaw, IN 46580. We invite all to attend the service and share their memories and stories of a man who made the world a better place just by being in it.
Rest in peace, David. You will be deeply missed, but your memory and spirit will live on in all of us who loved you. You are a legend that will never be forgotten.
