Biography
David Lee Cordill passed away Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 in his Warsaw, Indiana home. He was 69 years old.
David was one of six children born to Paul Russell and Phyllis Eileen (Ettinger) Cordill. He was born on January 21, 1947 in Warsaw, where he spent most of his lifetime. He was a 1965 graduate of Warsaw High School, Warsaw.
With a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor, David was always giving others nicknames. He too earned a nickname that he faithfully embraced; so much so that many may not know his legal name is David, most called him ”Worm.”
Worm enjoyed all things to do with cars - car auctions, car shows, but especially car racing. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and always hoped to see his favorite driver, Darrell Waltrip, clinch a win; if Waltrip couldn’t win then there had better be a good crash. Worm enjoyed watching the local races too and he was especially fond of demolition derby.
Worm was a collector and a trader who may just have enjoyed the hunt as much as he enjoyed striking a deal. He could spend entire days at flea markets and auctions and knew EVERYONE no matter where he went. He even worked after his retirement from RR Donnelley as Santa Claus, worked with Toys for Tots and volunteered in the soup kitchen at holiday times.
Although he had many interests, Worm was a man to whom family meant everything. His large family includes two children: son, David (wife Katina) Webb of Burket, IN and daughter, Nicholle (husband Kyle) Probst of Mishawaka, IN; three sisters: Ronna Rodocker of Warsaw, Cathy (husband Fred) Miller of Warsaw, and Sherryl (husband John) Finch of Irish Lake, near North Webster, IN; two brothers: Harle (wife Mary) Cordill of Warsaw and Dan (wife Cindy) Cordill of Warsaw; two grandchildren; one great-grandson and a very large extended family.
His parents, Paul Russell Cordill (March 23, 1979) and Phyllis Eileen Cordill (May 7, 1995) preceded him in passing.
