David E. "Mag" Kern

David E. “Mag” Kern, 57, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Goshen Hospital in Goshen, IN. He was born on February 3, 1962 in Goshen, IN to Jacob Earl “Jake” & Susan A. “Susie” (Morganthaller) Kern III.

He graduated in 1980 from Wawasee High School in Syracuse, IN and was a lifetime Syracuse / North Webster area resident except for a few years in Cadillac, MI. He formerly worked at Aerolite in Syracuse, Forest River in Goshen, Ameri-Camp in Syracuse, Thor Industries, Cadillac Bowling Alley, and the Syracuse Bowling Alley.

He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Syracuse and the Boy Scouts of America where he held various seats, including being a Certified Education Trainor for Boy Scout Leaders.  He was a former member of the Lions Club in Syracuse.

He is survived by:

Daughter – Alisha Kern of Syracuse

Son – Christopher     Kern of Syracuse

Sister – Debra Kern of North Webster

Brother – Daniel (Trish) Kern of Myrtle Beach, SC

Former spouse – Mary (Mabee) Kern of Syracuse

5 Nephews & 2 Gt. Nieces & Nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew - Wesley Kern.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Preferred memorials may be given to the David Kern Funeral Fund, c/o Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN 46567.
