David L. "Dave" Carey

David L. ”Dave” Carey, 67, of Leesburg, IN passed away at 12:19 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, IN. He was born on December 9, 1943 in Huntington, IN to Fred Orlando & Esther Rose (Gardner) Carey.
He attended grade school in South Whitley, IN until moving to the North Webster / Leesburg area in 1955. He graduated in 1962 from North Webster High School and was married on June 16, 1962 in North Webster to Beverly J. “Bev” Ferverda who survives.
He retired after 40 years as Owner / Operator of Carey Excavating in North Webster / Warsaw and 20 years with Carey Realty in Warsaw.
He was a member of the North Webster Church of God where he served on various boards and was a board member at Mutual Bank in Warsaw. He formerly served on the Wawasee School Corporation Board for 14 years and Combined Community Services for 8 years.
He is survived by:

2 Daughters – Deb Carey of North Webster & Mrs. Phil (Beth) Maish of Goshen
Son – Jeff (wife, Amanda) Carey of Leesburg
4 Grandchildren – Dustin Sumpter, Brooks Sumpter, Carey Maish, & Ethan Carey
2 Brothers – Larry (wife, Huletta) Carey of Warsaw & Nick (wife, Jesse) Carey of Ft. Collins, CO
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother – Jerry Carey.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster and 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at North Webster Church of God, 300 N. Main St., North Webster, IN with Rev. Jeff Boyer of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the McClintic Cemetery in Syracuse.
