Debra Sue McLaughlin, known by most as “Debbie,” passed away on Saturday, January 6th in her Warsaw, Indiana home. She was 61 years old at the time of her unexpected passing.
Debbie was born on February 1, 1956 in Warsaw to Richard D. and Billie Jo (Maggart) McLaughlin. She was a 1974 graduate of Mentone High School and spent much of her lifetime in the Warsaw area. She had previously worked as a teacher’s aid and for Cardinal Center.
A woman of diverse taste, she enjoyed science fiction and especially liked Star Trek and Doctor Who, preferring the original series over the new release. She loved animals and had enjoyed fishing; one memorable fishing trip of her youth was taken with her father to Eagle River, Wisconsin. Mostly Debbie was a friend – she greatly enjoyed time spent with her friends.
In addition to her close group of friends, she is survived by two brothers: Michael (wife, Linda) McLaughlin and Rick McLaughlin, both of Warsaw, and by seven nieces and nephews: Melanie, Erica, Natalie, Mason, Margaret, Billie and Ryan. Those who preceded her in passing include her parents, Richard and Billie Jo and niece, Reesha.
Friends and family will gather on Wednesday, January 10th at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, from 4 to 6 p.m. to share memories of Debbie. A funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. with Bob Jarboe, chaplain of Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice officiating. Private burial will be in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery on Thursday.
