Delmer “Gene” Poe, 78, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at 3:02 PM in Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw, Indiana.
Born to Lynn B. and Essie (Marsillett) Poe, Gene was born December 19, 1936 in Floyd County, Kentucky.
He and Dorothy Barrett were joined in marriage May 22, 1959 in Claypool, Indiana. There is where he spent most of his life as a farmer. He was also employed by Clausing for 20 years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. More than anything Gene enjoyed being outdoors in nature.
Those who survive are his wife: Dorothy Poe, Claypool; son and daughter-in-law: Matthew Wayne and Annette Poe, Claypool; 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons-in-law: Shelby and Joseph Miller, Warsaw; Karen Poe, North Manchester, Indiana; and Britney and Aaron Howard, Hampton, Iowa; step granddaughter: Sierra Shafer, North Webster, Indiana; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law: Amos and Edna Poe, Warsaw; Boyd and Shirley Poe, Burket, Indiana; and 2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Phyllis and Ronald Hurley, Warsaw; Bess and Randy Ransbottom, Silver Lake, Indiana.
Preceding Gene’s passing are his parents: Lynn and Essie Poe; son: Mark Poe, July 2, 2004; and granddaughter: Lyndsay Sanchez, September 29, 2011.
Family and friends will gather at Titus Funeral Home, (2000 E. Sheridan Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580) to share memories in support of one another, November 5th from 10 AM until the time of the service at 12 Noon. This service celebrating Gene’s life will be conducted by Pastor William Whitaker of Warsaw Family Worship Center. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
The family has asked that gifts in Gene’s memory be given to Alzheimer’s Association, 922 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana 46617.
