Delores (Shirey) Harman, age 87 and a longtime area resident, passed away quietly on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw.
She was born on April 17, 1932 to Edwin A. and Flo O. (Ellis) Shirey. She was one of eight Shirey children and was the last of her siblings. On October 14, 1950, she was married to the late Thomas L. Harman.
Together, Thomas and Delores owned and operated the local B & K Rootbeer. They also ran her father’s business, the Palestine Mill for some time. Delores was a hard worker and she liked things to be done in a certain way. She had a soft spot for horses and together, she and Thomas pulled wagons in parades and at other events. In her younger years, she enjoyed roller skating and, as she aged, she kept herself busy with word search puzzles.
Delores is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harman in 1998; her daughter, Pamela Taylor in 2005 and by her siblings: sisters, Nadine Stanley, Betty Evans and Gladys Reese and brothers, Dean Shirey, Virgil Shirey, Allen Shirey and Woodrow Shirey.
A Life Celebration® is planned at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 11 a.m. Friends may gather for one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
