Dennis Wayne Boyd, 73, of Warsaw, IN, met his Lord and Savior face to face on January 24, 2023, with his wife by his side, after a brief battle with cancer.
Dennis was born on January 22, 1950, to Warren and Neva Boyd, of Modesto, CA, who precede him in death. Dennis grew up in a Christian family and clearly surrendered his life to Christ at an alter call in 1971. He is survived by his siblings, Gary (Becky) Boyd, Annette (Jim) King, John (Keriann) Boyd, Mike (Kim) Boyd and sister-in-law Colleen Boyd. On July 22, 1972, he married his loving wife, Cathy Boyd, at Ripon Grace Brethren Church, CA. He leaves behind their children Crystal (Jason) O’Connor, Tyler (Connie) Boyd, Thomas (Stephanie) Boyd, Connie (Tyson) Ashenfelter, Cassie (preceded him in death,1982) and Charrie (Matt) Denton.
Dennis (aka Popi) also leaves behind 19 grandchildren: Derek (Gracious) O’Connor, Cassandra Ashenfelter, Nathan O’Connor, Samantha Ashenfelter, Jacob O’Connor, Maxwell & Mitchell Ashenfelter, Aeva Ashenfelter, Justin Boyd, Laela Ashenfelter, Delylah Ashenfelter, Emma Boyd, Caden Denton, Hannah Ashenfelter, Estelle Boyd, Tobias Denton, Jase Denton, Charis Denton and leaves behind 1 great grandchild, Amari O’Connor.
Dennis was a perpetual entrepreneur, packing more into one lifetime than most could imagine. Some of these adventures/businesses include Boyd’s Spreading Services, gold mining, food-prep at Agnew State Hospital, pig & cattle farming, emu farming, US Postal Service worker and Froggy’s burger technician (at Various locations). He was owner of Superior Windows, Superior Mini-Storages and The Donut Hole (Salida, CA). Owner of Figaro’s Pizza, Boyd’s Pro Sports Collectables & Batting Cages, Modular Home Sales, Realtor & High School Baseball and Bowling Coach (Coos Bay, OR). Grace College head baseball coach and groundskeeper, little league coach, Boyd Construction home builder, RV transporter, Series Seating field measurer (Warsaw, IN) and many more adventures.
Dennis was known as a vivid story teller, often centered around how God miraculously saved his life various times. This was a highlight of all who knew him. His joyful smile and optimism drew people from all walks of life and gave him opportunities to show God’s love to everyone. He was a genuine friend to many and willing to serve others selflessly. Dennis loved to play many sports and he was a die-hard fan of the SF Giants, 49’ers, Warriors, and a sports memorabilia collector.
Dennis’ faith relied on the promises of God’s word and Christ’s work for the hope of eternity. Some of his favorite Bible verses were John 13:35 and Psalm 23. We grieve the loss of this God-fearing, hard-working family man, but find comfort in the fact that Dennis is enjoying a mansion built by the Master Builder and holding his daughter, Cassie.
