Dolores E. “Dee” Gerber, 72, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 12:06 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on February 5, 1943 in Goshen, In to James Edward & Martha Mildred (Richcreek) Hapner.
She was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and attended Syracuse High School. She was married on June 4, 1960 in Syracuse to Allen R. Gerber who survives. She retired from Oakwood Hotel in Syracuse and formerly worked at the Dixie Restaurant in Syracuse, Essex in Ligonier, Premier Window in Syracuse & G.T.I. in Leesburg.
She was a member of the Syracuse Baptist Church and Eagles Lodge in Syracuse. She formerly attended Solomon Creek United Methodist Church & Peoples Bible Church in Benton.
She is survived by:
Husband – Allen Gerber of Syracuse
3 Sons – Ray (Melissa) Gerber of Milford, Rick Gerber of Syracuse, & Ron (Stephanie) Gerber
7 Grand & 9 Gt. Grandchildren
3 Brothers – Jerry (Carolyn) Hapner, Fred (Ann) Hapner, & Joe (JoAnn) Hapner all of Syracuse
She was preceded in death by her parents & sister – Joyce Kitson.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2015 Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St. Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2015 in the funeral home with Pastor Brent Joy of the church officiating.
Memorial bequest may be given to Syracuse Baptist Church, 10013 N. Syracuse Webster Rd., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
