Donald Wayne Crowder, 74, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed into the sweet arms of Jesus on February 22, 2024, at home surrounded by family.
Born in Franklin, Kentucky, Don was the third child of Prentice and Annie Crowder. His brother and sister, Tom and Pat, doted on their little brother. Don pursued his dream to be an athletic trainer at Western Kentucky University – “Go Tops!” After receiving his master’s at Indiana State, he served athletes at Depauw and Evansville Universities, Michigan City High School, and several professional sport events. Don’s experience earned him the nickname “Doc.” During this period, he raised two children, Amy and Brad. He became “Uncle Donald Duck” to many nieces and nephews.
In 1994, Don married the love of his life, Dawn. This added four more kids: Shana, Isaac, Erin, and Seth. Over the next 30 years, 14 grandchildren were entertained by Don’s quick wit and many embellished stories. He was always their biggest fan.
In retirement, Don and Dawn enjoyed lakeside living including fishing, boating, and meeting new friends.
Per Don’s wishes, the family will celebrate his life at a later date. Donations can be made in his memory to the hospice group that served his family during his illness: Gentiva Foundation, 2720 Dupont Commerce Ct. Suite 210, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
