Donald E. Stewart, known to most as Don, left this life on August 12, 2024, from his home in Syracuse, Indiana. He was 88 years old.

Born in Indianapolis on October 18, 1935 to Jesse and Maude (Hinshaw) Stewart, Don led a life filled with dedication and commitment. He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and pursued higher education at Purdue University. Don's passion for learning and his strong work ethic were evident throughout his career in banking, spanning an impressive 44 years. He retired from Bank One as a Records Manager, a role in which he demonstrated unparalleled diligence, missing only a single day of work during his entire tenure.

In addition to his professional achievements, Don served honorably in the Army Reserves; he remained a proud patriot and was a Christian. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, as he was a long-time member of Horizon Christian Fellowship in Indianapolis and a member of Wawasee Bible Church. More personally, Don was a devoted family man who treasured spending time with his loved ones. His love for his family was unwavering, and he delighted in engaging them in card games, particularly "May I" and "Hearts." He also enjoyed Euchre with his friends at the Syracuse Community Center. A skilled chess player and avid bowler, Donald brought joy and friendly competition to every gathering.

Don was married to Patricia "Pat" Gebhardt on January 1, 1960. The pair shared more than 56 years together before her passing on September 24, 2016. He was also preceded in passing by his parents and three sisters: Lou, Dot & Wilma. Those who survive with memories to cherish include daughter, Kathy Stewart of Tennessee; son, Brian Stewart and his wife, Bonnie Toepfer of Montana; 4 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Titus Funeral Home, 1001 South Huntington Street, Syracuse is entrusted with care of Don. He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Pat, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, gifts should be directed to a charity of the donor's choosing.
