Donald E. "Don" Ritter

Donald E. "Don" Ritter Sr., 78, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Mason Health & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, IN. He was born on March 7, 1938 in Bourbon, IN to Floyd Eugene & Rosetta Marcell (Conner) Ritter.

He attended Bourbon High School and was a United States Navy Veteran. He lived most of his life in the Bourbon, South Bend & Plymouth area before moving to Syracuse in 1983. He was married on May 26, 1956 in Bourbon, IN to Evelyn Rose Mevis who preceded him on November 30, 1982 and then on December 5, 1997 in Syracuse, IN he married Sandra C. “Sandy” (Cooperrider) Koher who survives. He was former owner / operator of ARS Refrigeration in Syracuse for 10 years and formerly worked as a machinist at Wheelabrator Corporation in Mishawaka, IN for 21 years and Goshen Rubber as an inspector.

He was a member of the Strong Tower Worship Center in Ligonier and he enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Daughter – Tammy Ritter of South Bend

Twin Sons- Donald (Amy) Ritter Jr. of Milford & Ronald (Linda) Ritter of Syracuse

7 Grand & 6 Gt. Grandchildren

Sister – Pam Cole of Plymouth

Sister in law – Patty Ritter of Plymouth

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, gt. grandson – Bentley Flannery, and brother – Lonnie Ritter.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016 in the funeral home with Pastor Josh Vargas of the church officiating. Military graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016 at the New Oak Hill Cemetery, 1300 Chester St., Plymouth, IN.

Preferred memorials may be given to Strong Tower Worship Center, 502 W. Diamond Lake Rd., Ligonier, IN 46767 or American Cancer Society, 130 Red Coach Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
