Donald G. "Don" Matson, 70, passed away at 11:31 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN. He was born on December 28, 1945 in East Chicago, IN to George & Ann E. (Hora) Matson.
He attended Roosevelt High School in East Chicago and was a United States Army Veteran. He grew up in East Chicago and lived most of his life in the Crown Point & Demotte, IN areas. He retired from Inland Steel in East Chicago, IN after 30 years.
He formerly attended the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in East Chicago, IN.
He is survived by:
8 Daughters & 1 Son
2 Sisters – MaryAnn (Ronald) Haskins of North Webster & Rose Dollinar of Dyer
2 Brothers – Frank (Linda) Matson of Hammond & Robert (Joyce) Matson of North Webster
He was preceded by parents, 2 sisters – Nancy Patton & Florence Matson, brother – Michael Matson.
Private family services will take place at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN with Deacon Marion Carpenter of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Syracuse officiating. Cremation will then follow at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN. Burial will take place in the St. John’s Cemetery in Hammond, IN at a later date.
Preferred memorials may be given to the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, 3489 E 100S, Pierceton, IN 46562. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
