Donald Lee "Don" Harris

Donald Lee “Don” Harris, 85, of Leesburg, IN passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse, IN. He was born on January 29, 1933 in Anderson, IN to Omer Vernon & Mabel (Morehead) Harris.

He graduated in 1951 from Anderson High School, received his B.S. Degree in 1961 from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, and received his Master’s Degree from Ball State in Muncie, IN. He was a United States Army veteran and was married on February 1, 1958 in Anderson, IN to Gayle Kern who survives. He moved to the Leesburg area in 1965 from Liberty, IN.

He taught vocational agriculture and science in Liberty, IN for the Union County School Corporation for 6 years, formerly worked for Federal Land Bank in Louisville, KY, & was the former owner / operator of Harris Concrete in Pierceton for 20+ years. He was a member of North Webster Church of God, Masonic Lodge in Cromwell, Kosciusko County Shriners, Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne, and American Legion Post #253 in North Webster, IN.

He is survived by:

Wife – Gayle Harris of Leesburg

Daughter – LeAnn Harris of Leesburg

3 Sons – O.V. Harris of Pierceton, Tim (Minona) Harris of Warsaw, & Todd (Kristene) Harris of Warsaw

1 Granddaughter, 1 Step Granddaughter, 1 Step Grandson, & 2 Step Great Grandchildren

Sister-in-law – Nora Harris of Anderson

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters – Delores Calvert, Madelyn Hamm, and Barbara Dew, and brother – Harold Harris.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 & 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating. Military services will be performed by the North Webster American Legion. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN.
