Donald W. "Don" Hicks

Donald W. “Don” Hicks, 58, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at his home. He was born on April 1, 1957 in War, West Virginia to John L. and Ethel M. (Hicks) Hicks.

He moved to Kendallville area in the 1970’s from West Virginia and to the Syracuse / Milford area in 1980.  He attended Berwind Public Schools in McDowell County, WV and served in the United States Army. On December 22, 1980 in Milford he married Lillie “Diane” Blackburn who survives. He retired as Auto Body Repair and RV technician; formerly worked for Fox RV in Middlebury and Mike’s Customer Auto Body in Bremen.

He attended Word of Truth Ministries in Milford.

He is survived by:
Wife – Diane Hicks of Syracuse
3 Daughters – Jessica Elizabeth Hicks of Georgetown, SC; Tamara (Jamison) Tanner of Leesburg; & Michelle (Chad) Dailing of Milford
2 Sons – Shane Eric (Brittany) Blackburn of Warsaw & Paul David Johnson of Elkhart, IN
11 Grandchildren & 1 Gt. Grandson
2 Brothers – David Hicks of Syracuse & Roger (Julie) Hicks of Osceola, IN
3 Sisters – Glenora (Marcus) Rose of Ashland, KY, Nola Marshall of North Webster, & Patricia Roston of Washington
2 Step Sisters & 3 Step Brothers

He was preceded by his parents, twin brother – Ronald Hicks, sister – Norma Gentry, 2 brothers - Bud Benton & Richard (Ricky) Goodyear, 2 Step sisters & 1 Step brother.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in the funeral home with Pastor Mike and Dee Kelley of the church officiating. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.
