Donna Jane Truex, age 88 of rural Atwood, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw.
Born on July 6, 1931 in Argos, Donna Jane was the daughter of Willard Devoe and Jessie Mae (Carpenter) Robinson. She attended Atwood High School, and on June 26, 1948, she was united in marriage to James D. Truex. The pair shared nearly 72 years before Donna Jane’s passing.
Donna Jane was known for her great sense of humor and her matter-of-fact personality. She enjoyed cooking and baking - both were special skills which she taught to as many of her family members as possible. She even cooked professionally, working as an Atwood Elementary School cook until all of her granddaughters had made it through school there. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and keeping up with her large family. Time spent with them was precious and, among all her hobbies, nothing pleased Donna Jane more than a house full of family.
In addition to her husband, Jim Truex, those who survive include sons, Raymond (Tina) Truex and Ronald (Mindy) Truex; daughter, Dara (Mike) Long and brother, Glen Robinson – all of Warsaw. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren: Angela (Grady) Sanders of Texas City, Tx, Dawn (Scott) Vargo of Nappanee, Erika (Bart) Loe of Warsaw, Rushell DeFries of Warsaw, Heather Truex of Warsaw, Tracy (Jason) Nichols of Warsaw, Aerial (Eric Whitaker) Gilbert of Etna Green, Aubrey (Michael) Loomis of Fort Wayne, Hanna Long of Bourbon, Jessica (Miles) Wynn of Portland, OR and Isaac Long of Plymouth; 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
