Biography
Doris “Jean” Shanbeck, 94, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 6:57 AM in her home at Miller's Merry Manor Assisted Living, Warsaw, Indiana.
Jean was born September 23, 1921 in Warsaw to John Alva and Anna M. (Beatty) Bowser. She attended Warsaw Community Schools and lived most of her life in Warsaw.
On October 16, 1939 in Fort Wayne, Indiana she and Dale Richard Shanbeck were joined in marriage. A homemaker, she and Dale would share 62 years together until his death on January 4, 2002.
Jean was an active member of North Winona Church of the Brethren for 75 years. She loved to make baby quilts and play cards. She also loved her dog, “Maizy”!
Survivors include her daughter: Sandra “Sandy” Shanbeck of Huntertown, Indiana; 1 sister: Joan King, Warsaw; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, those who have preceded her in passing are 3 brothers: James Bowser (September 21, 2015), John Bowser and Infant Donald Bowser; 3 sisters: Catherine Miller, Evelyn Kinsey and Francis Prescott.
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing Thursday, December 31, 2015 from 11 AM to 1 PM in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan Street, Warsaw, Indiana. A celebration of Jean’s life will follow beginning at 1 PM in the funeral home. Pastor Bob Jarboe, Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice chaplain will officiate. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
