Biography
Doris M. Todd, 89, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
Doris was born July 25, 1926 in Whitley County, Indiana to W. Arthur and Helen (Oliver) Buntain. She was a graduate of Larwill High School (Larwill, Indiana). On April 7, 1978 she and Robert H. Todd were married in Burket, Indiana. He preceded her in passing March 4, 1997.
Doris was a waitress at many Warsaw restaurants. She retired in 1978 as a clerk from L.M. Berry Co. (National Yellow Pages Service). She had also been a nurse’s aide at Murphy Medical Center. Doris worked in the cafeterias as a baker for the Warsaw Community Schools.
A 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star #88 (Warsaw) and also a member in Palmetto, Florida; she served as worthy matron in both chapters. Doris was a member of the Kosciusko Community Hospital Auxiliary and worked in the hospital gift shop. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #49. She served as a gray lady with the American Red Cross. When her children were young she was involved in their activities as a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader, a mother advisor for Rainbow Girls and was a 4-H volunteer worker.
Survivors include 3 children: Bobi Brumfield, Mary Anne Brumfield and Jim Brumfield – all of Warsaw; 5 grandchildren: Todd Bayne, Jared Brumfield and Jorie (and Nick) Coon – all or Warsaw; Jessica Knoerzer, Chicago, Illinois and David Knoerzer, Claypool, Indiana; 6 great grandchildren; several step grandchildren; 3 siblings: Vera (Karen) Clark, Atwood, Indiana; Louise Dacey of Columbus, Ohio and Alice Brumfield of Claypool.
In addition to her husband, 3 siblings preceded Doris in passing – Ardith Rager, Wendell Buntain and Gertrude Maggert.
The family will welcome friends Monday, May 16th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home. A service celebrating Doris’ life will follow beginning at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Bob Jarboe, chaplain with Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
The family has asked that gifts in Doris’ memory be directed to K-21 Health Foundation - Cancer Care Fund, PO Box 1810, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1810.
