Doris Eugenia Dorsey, 99, of Winona Lake, IN (formerly of North Webster, IN) passed away at 3:50 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Grace Village Healthcare in Winona Lake, IN. She was born on November 2, 1919 in Kosciusko County, IN to Elmo & Florence (Weimer) Shock.
She graduated in 1936 from Syracuse High School and was a lifetime Syracuse / North Webster area resident until moving to Grace Village in Winona Lake in 2009. She was married on June 6, 1936 to Maurice William Dorsey who preceded her on November 29, 2001. She was a homemaker and retired as the Cafeteria Manager at Syracuse School after several years.
She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in North Webster and former member of the Mother’s Club in Syracuse.
She is survived by:
2 Daughters – Dixie Simmons of Syracuse & Kathleen (Bruce) Wolfe of Middlebury
Son – William “Bill” (Marilyn) Dorsey of Columbia City, IN
7 Grand, 7 Step Grand, 7 Gt. Grand, several Step Gt. Grand, 4 Gt. Gt. Grand, and several Step Gt. Gt. Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister – D-Maris Miller, and brother – Joe Shock.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Bob Wyman of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
