Dorothy Irene Dye, age 96, went to her heavenly home on January 27, 2024 with her family at her side. She was born in Leesburg on October 3, 1927 to John and Bernice Smith Watkins.
Dorothy was a lifetime resident of Leesburg and a 1945 graduate of Leesburg High School. On June 25, 1945, she married Charles Dye with whom she shared more than 52 years of marriage before his passing in November of 1997. In addition to Charles, she was preceded in passing by her parents, 3 siblings and a son, Charles "Bob" Dye.
Dorothy had many jobs throughout her life but the one she loved most was caring for her family and raising her children alongside her husband. Both she and Charles were very active in the church, attending North Webster Church of God for many years. She also sang in the choir and in a trio.
Dorothy is survived by three children: son, John (Linda) Dye of Nappanee and two daughters, Susan (Rick) Stookey and Nancy (Randy Sindelar) Miner of Warsaw; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Dye of Naples and a foster-son, Danny Tat of Leesburg. She is also survived by her beloved 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Titus Funeral Home of North Webster is entrusted with care of Dorothy and the Dye family. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3rd from Noon to 2 p.m. at the North Webster Church of God, 302 North Main Street in North Webster. Beginning at 2 o'clock, Pastor Jeff Boyer will officiate a Life Celebration Funeral. Burial will follow at Leesburg Cemetery.
