Dorothy Jean McGinnis Grow, 83, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 8:45 AM in her Claypool, Indiana home.
Dorothy was born September 17, 1930 in Mishawaka, Indiana to William and Pansy (Clark) McGinnis. She had resided in Claypool since 1962.
She and Elbert Grow were joined in marriage June 21, 1947 in Warsaw, Indiana.
Dorothy was employed by R.R. Donnelley for 15 years and for 3 years at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw, where she worked in the kitchen.
She enjoyed motorcycle riding in her younger years. Dorothy enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, making various crafts, playing cards and working in her flower beds. She loved watching the Food Channel - especially Paula Deen.
Survivors include 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Arden and Laura Grow, Claypool, and Steve Grow of Palestine, Indiana; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda and Russell Brown, Claypool; and Jenny and Mike Grow-Dawson, Atwood, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 4 great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Grow (June 30, 1995); 5 brothers: Paul McGinnis, William McGinnis, Adrien McGinnis, Aaron McGinnis and Tommy McGinnis; 4 sisters: Geraldine Ervin, Bonnie Blosser, Norma Himes and Peggy Drabenstott.
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other Thursday, March 13th from 10-11 AM at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service celebrating the life of Dorothy Jean McGinnis Grow will follow beginning at 11 AM in the funeral home. Bishop Richard Campbell of New Vision Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, Indiana.
