Dorothy Elizabeth “Dottie” Hoffer, 85, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 4:06 PM in the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana
On February 17, 1930, Dottie was born in Atwood, Indiana to John E. and Virginia J. (Sensibaugh) Hershberger.
Dorothy, a 1948 graduate of Mentone High School, was married August 13, 1949 to Frank Devon Hoffer in Atwood. He preceded her in death May 26, 2015.
A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, Dottie worked for Cargill, Inc. for 15 years. She was also the assistant bank manager for Etna Bank for 13 years and retired in 1994.
Dottie was the key holder and date planner for the Atwood Community Center for many years and was involved in the Atwood firehouse functions, class reunions and other community events. She chronicled historical information for Kosciusko County since the 1940’s. Dottie enjoyed reading on her porch swing and looking out over the lake.
Survivors include her daughter: Ruth Hoffer and son: Chad Hoffer – both of Warsaw; 2 granddaughters: Kerri Hoffer and Jan Hoffer – both of Dallas, Texas; and lastly a great granddaughter: Kamaria Maloney.
In addition to her husband, Dottie was preceded in death by a son: Jon Hoffer.
The will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date.
The family has asked that gifts in Dottie’s memory be directed to www.aspca.org or to Bell Memorial Public Library, 101 W. Main Street, Mentone, Indiana.
