Douglas Method

January 22, 1938 — August 20, 2019

Douglas E. Method, known by most as Doug, passed away quietly on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 5:40 p.m. in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw. He was 81 years old.

Born on January 22, 1938, Doug was the son of Guy Benjamin Method, Sr. and Lela Joy (Mahoney) Method. He was born in Warsaw, attended Leesburg High School and spent most of his life in Kosciusko County. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army and was sole survivor of four siblings.

Doug was a hard worker with an incredible sense of humor and an ornery streak. He loved his family deeply and was a proud grandpa and great-grandpa. He was known in the community for his racing, though.

He had raced motorcycles in Germany during his time stationed there and raced late models, modified stocks and sprints on tracks across the area for many years. When he was no longer able to race, he enjoyed NASCAR and was a proud Ford racing fan.

Doug worked for Fairmont Homes for more than twenty-five years, working in most every position and eventually retiring as maintenance supervisor. He was also previously the maintenance supervisor at Commodore Homes – he could fix anything and loved to tinker with projects.

Those who survive with memories to cherish include his four daughters: Lisa (husband, Ryan) Harrington of Granger, Leah Ann (husband, Edward) Stahl of Silver Lake, Cindi De La Cruz of Goshen and Lynett (husband, Joe) Garza of Syracuse. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Those who preceded him in passing include his wife, Joyce (Meade) Method who passed on April 1, 2006; his parents; two sisters, Fern Neff and Karen McCourt and a brother, Guy Benjamin Method, Jr.

A Life Celebration has been planned for Wednesday, August 28th at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. Funeral will begin at 11 a.m. with viewing for two hours prior. Doug’s nephew, Michael Rohrer will officiate the service with military honors to follow.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601.
