Doug Shirey

Doug Shirey, age 78 and a resident of Warsaw, passed away quietly on November 11, 2019 at 10:37 p.m. at Warsaw Meadows Care Center.

Born Douglas Eugene Shirey on October 31, 1941. He was the son of James and Mary Jane (Cripe) Shirey. He was one of two Shirey sons and attended Warsaw High School.

Doug was a huge Chicago Bears fan. He was an independent type who liked to joke around; he could be very sarcastic. He liked to cook and even cooked professionally for some time. He also worked as a truck driver and in security. He enjoyed a wide variety of things including Looney Toons and tinkering – he really liked to learn about the mechanics of things.

Doug was married to Judith (Swihart) Shirey. She preceded him in passing earlier this year. He was also preceded in death by a son, Douglas Shirey. Those who survive include sons: James Shirey (fiancée, Melissa Hoffhein) of Warsaw and William Shirey (wife, Catherine) of Fort Wayne; brother, Steve Shirey (wife, Monica) and several step-grandchildren.

Doug will be remembered privately by friends and family. His services are entrusted to Warsaw’s Titus Funeral Home.
