Doyle D. Butler

Doyle Dee Butler, 86, of Syracuse, IN joined his beloved wife Jo at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018. He passed away at his daughter’s home in Nashville, IN. He was born April 13, 1931 in Lacona, IA to Kenneth John & Flossie (Williams) Butler.
He graduated in 1948 from Lacona High School in Lacona, IA and was married on October 4, 1969 in Syracuse, IN to Josephine H. “Jo” (Hartshorne) Dieterly who preceded him on August 4, 2017. He was a former Dean’s Milk Distributor for many years, worked at Sroufe Manufacturing in Ligonier, and Commodore Homes in Syracuse. He moved to the Syracuse area in 1956 from North Dakota.
He was a member of the St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Syracuse. He was an avid bowler & golfer, enjoyed Wawasee High School sports, and working in his garden.
He is survived by:
5 Daughters – Sheryl (Roger) Stiver of Nashville, IN, Kathleen (Leroy) Thom of Nine Mile Falls, WA, Deborah (David) Heeter of Muncie, IN, Diane Hill of Indianapolis, and Barbara (Trenton) Harris of Bothell, WA
4 Sons – David (Susie) Butler of Syracuse, Bradley (Linda) Butler of Indianapolis, Donald (Andrea) Dieterly of Simpsonville, SC, Daniel (MaryAnn) Dieterly of Sedalia, MO
16 Grand & 14 Great Grandchildren
3 Sisters - Wanda Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, Wyona Shupe and Annie Rankin both of Lacona, IA
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson – Keegan Stiver, and 3 brothers – Wendell, Howard, and Walter Butler.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1413 N. Long Dr., Syracuse, IN with Pastor Jim Tormey officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
